CodeQuest

Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 July 2026

By adding CodeQuest to a Discord server, using its commands, or using this website, you agree to these terms.

What CodeQuest is

CodeQuest is a free educational Discord bot and website. It offers CodeType (a typing test built on real code), guided courses, coding quizzes, timed tests, and coding challenges where you write real code that is executed and checked against an expected result. Players earn XP, level up, and appear on their server's leaderboard.

CodeQuest is provided free of charge, with no purchases, subscriptions, or paid features.

Accounts

You can use the website either by connecting your Discord account or as a guest. A guest account exists only in a cookie on the device you created it on: clearing your cookies, using a different browser, or using another device means starting over, and we have no way to recover or identify it for you. Connecting Discord merges that progress into your Discord account and is the only way to keep it.

You are responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account and all of its data at any time from settings.

Acceptable use

When using CodeQuest, you agree not to:

Accounts that abuse the service may have their data reset or be blocked from using CodeQuest.

Code execution

Code you submit is run in a third-party sandbox (Judge0) and its output is compared against the expected answer. Execution is time-limited and isolated. Do not submit code containing secrets, personal information, or anything you would not want sent to a third-party service.

Server administrators

Adding CodeQuest to a server is subject to Discord's permission model. An administrator adding CodeQuest grants it permission to view channels, send messages, embed links, and use its own emojis in that server. You may remove CodeQuest at any time; doing so immediately stops all of its activity there.

Availability

CodeQuest is offered as-is, with no guarantee of uptime and no warranty of any kind. It depends on Discord and on a third-party code execution service, either of which may be unavailable at times. Features, questions, challenges, and XP values may change without notice. Game progress may, in rare cases, be lost due to technical failure.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any damages arising from use of CodeQuest.

Privacy

Data handling is described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

These terms may change. The updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continuing to use CodeQuest after a change means you accept the updated terms.
